John D. Henry, Jr., MD




Introduction


With over twenty years of clinical experience, Dr. John Henry is a leader in state-of-the-art total hip and total knee replacement surgery and the management of arthritis of the hip and knee. He is a native Atlantan who joined Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic in 1998.

Dr. Henry, a skilled surgeon, has been featured nationally on WebMD.


Dr. Henry is the Director of the Northside Hospital-Atlanta Joint Replacement Center. Under his leadership, Northside Hospital has achieved and maintained designation as a Center of Excellence for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement by The Joint Commission.


Education & Training


Dr. Henry earned his BS from Emory University in Atlanta in 1982, and his MD from Emory University School of Medicine in 1986. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency in 1991 where he served as Administrative Chief Resident. He then completed a prestigious Adult Reconstruction/Total Joint Replacement fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Brigham & Women's Hospital in 1992. After extensive fellowship training he was recruited by his residency training program department chairman and practiced Orthopaedic Surgery/Total Joint Replacement Surgery at the Emory Clinic from 1992-1998. He served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Henry scored in the top 6% on his specialty specific (total joint replacement surgery) board recertification exam. He has served as Clinical Instructor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and was Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Atlanta Veteran's Administration Medical Center. Dr. Henry has served as Medical Director for the Georgia Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation and has served as a question writer for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Henry is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Georgia Orthopaedic Society, Robert P. Kelly Orthopaedic Society and Atlanta Orthopaedic Society.

Saturday Hip and Knee Arthritis Clinic


Office hours are available for those who find a Saturday appointment more convenient. This clinic is for new patients over the age of 40 who have had hip or knee arthritic symptoms for greater than three months.
