History

Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic represents a long tradition in Atlanta orthopaedics. Since its founding in 1953, it has grown to include many physicians with a wide range of specialty interests. Clinic doctors serve as orthopaedists for the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Georgia State University as well as advisors to the Atlanta Ballet. However, the majority of the Clinic’s sports medicine practice is the care and treatment of the recreational athlete.


F. James Funk, Jr., MD


Dr. Funk founded Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic in 1953. He retired from practice in 1997 and passed away on December 10, 2008. Dr. Funk received his BA (1941) and MD (1944) from Emory University. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Duke University, Kennedy VA Hospital-Memphis and Harvard University. Dr. Funk was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1954.



Robert E. Wells, MD


Dr. Wells retired from practice at Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic in 1992, following 40 years of service to his profession. A native Atlantan, he received his BS (1946) and MD (1949) from Emory University, and a MS in Orthopaedic Surgery from the University of Tennessee (1955). He completed his orthopaedic residency at the Willis C. Campbell Clinic in Memphis.
